Franklin Paine’s Skatepark Grand Opening

On Tuesday evening Philly’s best skateboarders and skateboarding enthusiasts alike gathered at the brand new Paine’s Skatepark along the Schuylkill Banks for the venue’s pre-opening party given by Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund.

Special appearances were made by dormer PA Governor Edward Rendell, local skateboarding pros Chris Cole, Kerry Getz, & Tom Asta.

Guests enjoyed delicious Latin food provided by Delicias Food Truck and Jose Garces’s Distrito while DJ Nigel Richards from 611 worked the turn tables.

The opening of Franklin’s Paine Skatepark is a project that has been in the making for several years. It provides a place for local skateboarders to show off their skills while helping others learn more about skateboard culture.

Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund encourages the education about skateboard culture and aims to provide an environment where young people and adults alike are empowered through the advocating of skateboarding.
